A pedestrian died from her injuries following a crash in Perry Township on Friday, June 19, according to authorities. The crash remains under investigation, with officials noting that drugs and alcohol are believed to have been contributing factors.<\/p>\n
According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Lisbon Post, the crash occurred around 6 p.m. along State Route 45 near mile marker 23. A 1994 Oldsmobile, driven by a 23-year-old Steubenville man, was traveling northbound when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
The pedestrian was identified as Amanda Speigle, 35, of Salem. Officials said she suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, she later died as a result of her injuries.<\/p>\n
The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, both lanes of State Route 45 were temporarily closed while emergency crews responded and worked at the scene. The roadway has since been reopened to traffic.<\/p>\n
