NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. \u2014 Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured Wednesday night in Nebraska City.<\/p>\n
According to the Nebraska City Police Department, officers and Nebraska City Fire & Rescue were dispatched at approximately 10:31 p.m. on June 10, 2026, to the 1100 block of North 4th Street following reports of a shooting involving two individuals.<\/p>\n
When first responders arrived, they found a 45-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the victim as Will Neeman, 45, of Nebraska City.<\/p>\n
A second victim, a 28-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported by Nebraska City EMS to CHI Health St. Mary\u2019s before being airlifted to a trauma center in Omaha for further treatment. His current condition has not been released.<\/p>\n
According to a police press release, the incident was initially reported as an accidental shooting. Authorities said a second shot was reportedly fired after the 28-year-old man went to the back of the residence.<\/p>\n
Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and officials have not released additional details regarding what led to the incident.<\/p>\n
