MADISON COUNTY, Iowa \u2014 A 23-year-old Madison County man has been charged with first-degree murder after authorities say he admitted to fatally shooting his mother at a rural residence near Winterset.<\/p>\n
According to the Madison County Sheriff\u2019s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday to the 2300 block of 148th Street for a welfare check on 60-year-old Tammy Corkrean.<\/p>\n
When deputies arrived, they discovered Corkrean deceased inside the residence from multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n
During the investigation, authorities questioned her son, 23-year-old Theodore Corkrean, who allegedly admitted to investigators that he shot his mother the day prior.<\/p>\n
Theodore Corkrean was taken into custody at the scene and later booked into the Madison County Jail. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is awaiting arraignment.<\/p>\n
