An off-duty Louisville Metro Police Department officer was killed in a crash Sunday night on Interstate 265, according to Louisville police and the Jefferson County Coroner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
Authorities identified the victim as 29-year-old Anthony Elliott, a member of the Louisville Metro Police Department\u2019s 4th Division. The crash occurred at approximately 9:56 p.m. near the 36-mile marker on I-265, involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck.<\/p>\n
Police said officers responded to the scene and found that Elliott had been thrown from his motorcycle during the collision, suffering fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n
Investigators reported that the motorcycle became trapped under the semi-truck\u2019s axles and subsequently caught fire. Fire crews from Anchorage and Middletown responded and extinguished the flames. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
In a statement, LMPD said the department is mourning the loss of Officer Elliott, describing him as a dedicated public servant who served with commitment and professionalism. The department said his death is deeply felt across the agency, including fellow officers, civilian staff, friends, and all who worked alongside him.<\/p>\n
