PRINCE GEORGE\u2019S COUNTY, Md. \u2014 A Temple Hills man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of his former girlfriend in what police are investigating as a domestic-related homicide.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified the suspect as Terrence Penn Jr., 31, of Temple Hills, who is charged in the death of Dakota Keys, 31, of Capitol Heights.<\/p>\n

According to the Prince George\u2019s County Police Department, officers responded on July 4, 2026, at approximately 10:10 p.m. to the 1900 block of Brooks Drive after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n

Investigators said that following the shooting, the suspect fled the area. However, he later turned himself in to authorities a short time afterward.<\/p>\n

Penn Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree murder. He is currently in custody with the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed the investigation remains ongoing and is being handled as a domestic-related case. No additional details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting.<\/p>\n
