A 59-year-old New Brockton man was killed Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle while walking along Alabama Highway 51 in Coffee County, Alabama.<\/p>\n
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened at approximately 8:42 p.m. on July 12 near the 5-mile marker of Alabama Highway 51, about four miles north of Enterprise.<\/p>\n
Troopers said Hozea Head Jr. of New Brockton was in the roadway when he was struck by a 2017 Kia Forte driven by 62-year-old Janet B. Barefoot of Enterprise.<\/p>\n
Coffee County Coroner Arnold Woodham said preliminary information from the investigation indicates that Head was walking along an unlit portion of the highway when he was struck by the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Head was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Kia remained involved in the incident, and the crash is currently under investigation by ALEA\u2019s Highway Patrol Division. Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the collision.<\/p>\n
