A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Rockingham County, according to authorities.<\/p>\n
The victim was identified as Cristian Fuentes Pizarro, 41, of Grottoes, Virginia.<\/p>\n
According to the Virginia State Police, troopers responded at approximately 7:30 a.m. to Oak Shade Road after receiving a report of a motorcycle crash.<\/p>\n
Investigators said a preliminary investigation found that Fuentes Pizarro was traveling eastbound on a motorcycle when he reportedly lost control while traveling at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, continued through a fence, and ejected Fuentes Pizarro.<\/p>\n
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Fuentes Pizarro was pronounced dead at the crash site.<\/p>\n
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation as Virginia State Police continue working to determine the events that led to the fatal collision.<\/p>\n
