A deadly shooting incident in Shreveport that involved multiple crime scenes, gunfire, and vehicle crashes has left two people dead and several others injured as authorities continue investigating the events that unfolded Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The victims have been identified as Imunique Williams, 22, who was fatally shot, and Chuckie Brooks, 57, who died from injuries sustained after a vehicle crash connected to the incident.<\/p>\n
According to the Shreveport Police Department, the incident began shortly before 4 p.m. when officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 5800 block of Attaway Street. While responding, officers located a vehicle damaged by gunfire near 61st Street and Linwood Avenue. Williams, who was inside the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence incident. Police allege that Thomas Lemons, 23, pursued Williams through the neighborhood at a high rate of speed while firing multiple shots into her vehicle.<\/p>\n
Authorities said Williams\u2019 vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic near Vernon Street and Linwood Avenue, where it collided with another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, later identified as Brooks, was critically injured and transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
Following the crash, police said Lemons exited his vehicle and began firing at passing vehicles and people in the area. Three additional people were struck by gunfire but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Lemons was taken into custody at the scene and later transported to the hospital for medical evaluation. After being cleared, he was interviewed by detectives but invoked his right to remain silent and declined to provide a statement.<\/p>\n
Police have identified Lemons as the suspect and said he is being held in the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of second-degree murder. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
