The Marine Corps community is mourning the loss of Sgt. Darilyn C. Duong, a 25-year-old drill instructor assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, who was found dead Friday at a residence in Port Royal, South Carolina.<\/p>\n
According to the U.S. Marine Corps, Duong was discovered on Friday, and the cause of death remains under investigation. Officials said no additional details will be released at this time.<\/p>\n

Duong, a native of Winnebago, Nebraska, served as a Marine and earned several military honors during her career, including the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.<\/p>\n
She was the second drill instructor assigned to Parris Island to die in the past two months. In June, Sgt. Albert Haynes II, a drill instructor with Lima Company, was found dead in a hotel room in Starke, Florida. The circumstances surrounding his death were not released.<\/p>\n
