A 56-year-old Medford man has died following a fatal motorcycle crash discovered Monday in the Town of Hammel, according to the Taylor County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
Authorities identified the victim as Scott Richard Williams of Medford, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
The crash was discovered after deputies responded to an area along County Road M east of Perkinstown in Taylor County, located in north-central Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
According to the Taylor County Sheriff\u2019s Office, deputies received a welfare check request at approximately 10 a.m. on July 20, 2026, after Williams failed to report to work as expected. Investigators used cell phone location data to determine that Williams\u2019 last known location was along County Road M east of Perkinstown.<\/p>\n
While authorities were searching the area, a passerby contacted emergency dispatch to report an unresponsive person and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in a ditch near the 9600 block of County Road M.<\/p>\n
Deputies and Taylor County EMS personnel responded to the scene, where they found Williams and the damaged motorcycle. First responders determined that Williams had died from injuries sustained in the crash.<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation found that Williams was traveling eastbound on County Road M when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway and entered a ditch. Authorities said Williams was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.<\/p>\n
Officials reported that Williams was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. No passengers were riding with him, and no other vehicles were reported to have been involved.<\/p>\n
County Road M is a rural roadway that passes through portions of Taylor County\u2019s heavily wooded landscape, including areas near Perkinstown and the Town of Hammel.<\/p>\n
Investigators have not yet released information regarding what caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway. The crash remains under active investigation by the Taylor County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
