According to the New York State Police, troopers responded at approximately 1:19 a.m. Sunday, June 14, to a crash on the northbound Interstate 287 ramp leading to the Interstate 87 split in the Village of Hillburn. The early morning crash brought emergency responders to a scene that would later turn into a devastating loss for multiple families.<\/p>\n
Investigators reported that a 2010 Honda Odyssey was attempting to transition between highways when it came to a stop partially in the roadway. A 2015 Mini Cooper traveling in the same direction then struck the rear of the vehicle, resulting in a violent collision that caused severe damage.<\/p>\n
Authorities confirmed that Guido R. De Castro, a resident of Hewitt, New Jersey, was operating the Mini Cooper at the time of the crash. He was extricated from the vehicle and rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital, where medical personnel worked tirelessly in an effort to save his life. Despite their efforts, he was sadly pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
