SPRINGFIELD, Mo. \u2014 Authorities have released the names of the individuals involved in the Lake Springfield incident that occurred Sunday, June 14, in Springfield.<\/p>\n
According to the Springfield Police Department, 19-year-old Andrea Stawny and 17-year-old Sofie Stawny were recovered following extensive water search-and-rescue operations at the lake\u2019s dam.<\/p>\n
Officials said Andrea was found on Tuesday approximately a quarter-mile downriver from the dam, while Sofie was located near the dam on Wednesday after continued recovery efforts.<\/p>\n
Police also confirmed that 40-year-old Taylor Stawny remains missing. Crews continue searching the area with approximately 40 rescuers from multiple agencies involved in the operation, covering land, water, and air search efforts.<\/p>\n
A 12-year-old, Aurelie Stawny, was rescued on Sunday from the waters below the spillway. She was transported to a hospital for treatment and has since been released, officials said.<\/p>\n
Authorities noted that next of kin have been notified in the case as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
During the operation, investigators said the four individuals were traveling together in a kayak and two inflatable tubes that were connected at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n
Multiple agencies have assisted in the search and recovery efforts, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol dive team, the Springfield Fire Department, and drone units from the Springfield Police Department.<\/p>\n
