Tulsa police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home near 51st Street and South Boston Place on Thursday afternoon.
According to investigators, officers responded to the residence around 3:45 p.m. to conduct a welfare check after co-workers of 39-year-old Kristina Schwaighofer became concerned when she failed to report to work.
When officers arrived, they observed a man lying on the floor inside the home with a handgun nearby. After forcing entry through a window, officers discovered Schwaighofer deceased in a chair in the living room.
The man was identified as 35-year-old Kyler Young. Police said he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Preliminary findings indicate that Young fatally shot Schwaighofer before taking his own life. Authorities said no other individuals were involved in the incident.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances and possible motive behind the shooting. The case remains under active investigation as officials work to determine what led to the tragic incident.
