SIMPS0NVILLE, S.C. — A death investigation is underway in Greenville County after a man was found fatally shot in the roadway Friday night, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they received a 911 call shortly before 7:45 p.m. reporting a gunshot victim lying in the road near Gorman Place. When responders arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet officially released the victim’s identity. However, multiple tributes circulating on social media have identified the victim as 21-year-old “Yung Steven,” though this information has not been confirmed by law enforcement.
Investigators say the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and no suspect information has been released. The area was secured as detectives processed the scene and continued canvassing for evidence and potential witnesses.
Officials noted that the investigation remains active as they work to determine what led to the fatal shooting.
