According to authorities, officers with the Newbern Police Department responded to a residence at a duplex near Maple Street and Sharps Ferry Road after receiving a call for service. When officers arrived, they discovered Makenzie Haynes deceased inside the home. Despite the swift response of emergency personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation has since been turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at the request of District Attorney General Danny Goodman Jr. Officials confirmed that Makenzie was identified as one of the two people who died at the residence.
