With profound sadness, family, friends, and members of the Bridgeport and New Milford communities are grieving the tragic loss of Cooper Whiteside, 38, a Bridgeport police officer, and Brittany Islami, 34, of New Milford, whose lives ended following a tragic motorcycle crash on Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury early Monday morning.
The unexpected passing of Cooper and Brittany has left a deep void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved them. Their lives, memories, and the impact they made on those around them will continue to be cherished by their families, friends, and communities.
According to the Danbury Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. when Cooper was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Sugar Hollow Road. The motorcycle collided with a northbound Jeep Compass, resulting in the tragic loss of both Cooper and Brittany, who was a passenger on the motorcycle.
Cooper was a respected Bridgeport police officer and dedicated public servant who also spent many years serving with the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his years of service, he held several roles, including firefighter, EMT, lieutenant, training captain, and vice president. He was remembered by colleagues as someone who touched many lives through his commitment to helping others.
Brittany’s passing has also brought tremendous sorrow to her family, friends, and the New Milford community. She will be remembered by those who knew her for the moments they shared and the memories she leaves behind.
