The Bridgeton, New Jersey, community is grieving the tragic loss of Favian Cruz, 24, whose life was taken following a devastating wrong-way crash on Route 55 in Mantua Township, Gloucester County, on Monday night, July 13, 2026.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the collision happened around 10:30 p.m. when Favian was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 55 in a Ram pickup truck. Investigators said the vehicle collided head-on with a Volvo tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Favian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver was treated for minor injuries and transported to a local hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash as they work to determine the events that led to the heartbreaking collision.
