Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that left a woman dead Saturday morning at an apartment complex in Jackson.
Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded at approximately 11:20 a.m. on June 13, 2026, to Parkwood Trace Apartments, located just off Whitehall Street, after reports of a person found unresponsive in the parking lot.
When officers arrived, they located 33-year-old Ashleey Nicolee suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the location.
Police have not released any information about a possible suspect or motive. Investigators say the circumstances leading up to the shooting are still unclear as they work to determine exactly what happened.
Crime scene investigators remained at the apartment complex for several hours, processing evidence, photographing the scene, and speaking with witnesses who may have seen or heard anything related to the incident. Authorities also checked the surrounding area for any available surveillance footage that could assist in the investigation.
Officials are urging anyone who was in the area of Whitehall Street or Parkwood Trace Apartments at the time of the shooting, or anyone with video or other information, to come forward and assist investigators.
