In Loving Memory of Barton Skubi and Kristin Standford

Family, friends, and members of the Austin community are mourning the heartbreaking and tragic loss of Barton Skubi, 57, and Kristin Standford, 52, whose lives were suddenly cut short inside their home on East Oltorf Street in a devastating incident that has left loved ones in shock and deep sorrow.

According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded on June 16, 2026, at approximately 3:21 p.m. to a welfare check in the 4700 block of East Oltorf Street. When officers entered the residence, they discovered an adult male and an adult female deceased inside the home.

The victims were later identified as Barton Skubi and Kristin Standford. Investigators reported that both individuals appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased at the scene after emergency personnel confirmed their deaths.

Austin Police Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists with the Austin Forensic Science Division responded to process the scene and gather evidence as part of the investigation.

Following an initial review, authorities determined the incident to be a domestic-related murder-suicide, stating that Standford fatally shot Skubi before taking her own life inside the residence.

While officials have confirmed the circumstances of the case, the tragedy has left family members, friends, and neighbors grieving two lives lost in a deeply painful and sudden way.
