family members, friends, and members of the morristown community are mourning the tragic and heartbreaking loss of 49-year-old beverly hunt and 51-year-old james hunt, whose lives were cut short in an apparent murder-suicide in west hamblen county.


According to Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins, deputies responded to a residence in west Hamblen County on the evening of June 21 after receiving reports from the home. When authorities arrived, they discovered Beverly Hunt and James Hunt deceased inside the residence from apparent gunshot wounds. Investigators have indicated the incident is being treated as a murder-suicide.
Officials also confirmed that a family pet was found deceased inside the home from a gunshot wound as well, adding to the heartbreak surrounding the scene.
The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office stated that no further details have been released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing. Detectives continue to review evidence and work to fully understand the circumstances leading up to the incident.
