A devastating double homicide is under investigation in Greenfield after police say two people were killed in a late-night shooting Monday.
The incident which occurred around 10:50 p.m. at the Fast Strip on El Camino Real and Oak Avenue. Authorities said early evidence suggests the shooting was a targeted attack involving suspected rival gang members.
Investigators reported that multiple individuals opened fire at the scene, discharging approximately 30 rounds before fleeing the area.
The victims have been identified as 26-year-old Aldo Juan Manjujano of King City and 32-year-old Elizabeth Saavedra of Soledad, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
Police Chief Guillermo Mixer said investigators are examining whether the deadly shooting may have been retaliation connected to a previous fatal incident in Soledad last month, which left a King City man dead following a child’s soccer game.
Officials confirmed that surveillance footage, including images captured through Flock camera systems, recorded the suspect vehicle as it left the scene. Detectives said they are following multiple strong leads as they work to identify those responsible for the attack.
Authorities have not released any photos or video evidence at this time, citing the need to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Police also emphasized that there is currently no threat to the public.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence, analyzing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the fatal shooting.
