Family, friends, and members of the Sonora and Tuolumne County community are mourning the heartbreaking and sudden loss of Eric Brandon Udall, 60, who was fatally shot during a violent incident on June 28, 2026.
According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:15 p.m. to the 17900 block of Lime Kiln Road after reports of a shooting at a residence. When deputies arrived, they immediately began life-saving measures on Eric Brandon Udall while awaiting emergency medical responders. Despite rapid response and continued medical efforts, he was transported to Adventist Health Sonora, where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.
Due to the severity of the incident, sheriff’s detectives responded to the scene to take over the investigation and process evidence. Investigators later determined that the incident stemmed from a physical altercation that escalated into gunfire. A suspect was identified and fled the area immediately following the shooting.
Authorities launched an urgent search, following investigative leads throughout the night. The suspect, Timothy Allen Boling, was later located in the Columbia area after community members reported sightings following a public alert. A California State Parks Law Enforcement Officer found Boling and held him at gunpoint until Tuolumne County deputies arrived and safely took him into custody without incident.
Eric’s sudden and violent passing has left his loved ones devastated and struggling to come to terms with the loss. He is being remembered as a valued member of his family and community whose presence will be deeply missed.
