Authorities are investigating a tragic workplace accident that claimed the life of a 25-year-old roofer following a fatal fall at an apartment complex in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, on Monday morning.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, officers responded on June 15 at approximately 10:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man had fallen from the roof of an apartment building located on 14th Street Northwest.

When officers arrived at the scene, emergency medical crews were already providing care to the injured worker, who had fallen approximately 12 to 15 feet from the roof while on the job.
Robin Brydges confirmed the victim as her son, Zack Brydges of Portage la Prairie, who was working as a roofer at the time of the incident. Preliminary findings indicate he was not wearing a safety harness when the fall occurred.
Despite rapid emergency response efforts, Brydges was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Both the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine what led to the fatal fall.
No further details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
