According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 1200 block of Gordon Highway after reports of a body discovered in the water. Emergency crews and investigators quickly secured the area as authorities worked to recover the individual and begin an investigation.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office later confirmed the identity of the deceased as Calvin Williams, 69, of Augusta. Officials said his identity was confirmed through fingerprint analysis.
