In Loving Memory of Leann R. Lucero

Family, friends, and members of the Pueblo community are mourning the tragic loss of Leann R. Lucero, who was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash during the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 10, 2026. She was just 31 years old.

According to the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office, Leann was officially identified as the victim of the deadly collision that occurred on the 600 block of West Northern Avenue. Pueblo Police responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian at approximately 2:20 a.m. Sadly, Leann was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities reported that the vehicle involved initially fled the area following the collision. A witness who observed the incident followed the vehicle while contacting 911, providing critical information to responding officers. Police later located the abandoned vehicle on the 200 block of West Northern Avenue and found the suspected driver, identified as Dahir Ortiz Espinoza, walking nearby.

Investigators have since announced that Espinoza faces multiple charges, including Vehicular Homicide, Failure to Remain at the Scene of a Fatal Crash, Failure to Report a Fatal Crash, Reckless Driving, and Driving Under the Influence. The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

While the legal process moves forward, the focus for many remains on the life that was lost. Leann’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
