Authorities have identified a woman who was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash early Thursday morning in Arlington, Texas.
According to investigators, the deadly incident occurred on Interstate 20 near Bowen Road when a 40-year-old woman was attempting to cross the interstate and was struck by a passing vehicle. Officials later confirmed the victim as Demetrice Renee Clark.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after the crash was reported and immediately began life-saving efforts. Despite their quick response and attempts to provide aid, Clark suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash caused significant disruption in the area, leading to the closure of westbound lanes near Cooper Street for several hours while law enforcement officials worked to investigate and document the scene. Traffic was heavily impacted as crews cleared the roadway and gathered evidence.
At this time, authorities have not released additional details regarding the driver involved or the circumstances leading up to the collision. Investigators say the case remains active and is still being reviewed as they work to determine exactly how the incident occurred.
