Omaha police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that left two people dead early Wednesday morning.
According to the Omaha Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence near North 85th Street and Izard Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a possible disturbance inside the home.
When officers arrived, they located two individuals deceased inside the residence. Investigators said the initial call came from a reporting party who told officers he had found his parents dead upon entering the home.
Police later identified the deceased as Ruchell Crees, 65, and George Jencks, 68. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding their deaths, but preliminary findings indicate the case is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.
Officials have not confirmed a motive, and detectives continue to process the scene and gather evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Omaha Police Department stated that there is currently no threat to the public in connection with the incident.
As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to release further information once next of kin notifications and additional forensic analysis are completed. The case remains active as detectives work to determine the events that led up to the tragic discovery inside the home.
