A 74-year-old woman is dead after being struck by two vehicles while walking on Interstate 75 in Warren County Saturday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers with the Hamilton Post responded around 5:19 a.m. to the northbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 31 in Monroe after reports of a pedestrian crash. Investigators say a semi-truck driven by 44-year-old Barbaros Yilmaz of Chatham, New Jersey, struck the woman as she was walking in the roadway.
The victim was later identified as 74-year-old Norma Jean Howard of Carlisle. Authorities say she was then struck by a Ford Fusion driven by 57-year-old Freddy Perdoma Sanchez of Middletown.
Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash remains under investigation as troopers continue to determine the circumstances that led to the pedestrian being on the interstate.
