22-Year-Old Clovis Man Killed in Shooting; Suspect Wanted on Murder Charges

Clovis police have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred early June 20 and have issued a murder warrant for a suspect, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Officers responded around 12:37 a.m. to the area of Main Street after receiving a report of a man who had been shot. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Eleno Cristobal Vicente Gallegos of Clovis lying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.

Gallegos was transported for medical treatment but later died from his injuries at a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

The Clovis Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit launched a homicide investigation and identified 26-year-old Tony Hamilton-Evans as the suspect. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging Hamilton-Evans with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect. Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
