Family, friends, and members of the Hill County community are mourning the devastating loss of six people, including two children, who were killed in a fiery head-on crash on State Highway 171 near Bynum on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred when a Nissan passenger vehicle attempted to pass another car and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a Ford passenger van head-on. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames.

Authorities confirmed that all four occupants of the Ford van were pronounced dead at the scene. Family members have identified four of the victims as Amanda Fowler, Sarah, Jeremiah Fowler, and Nani, with loved ones saying Jeremiah and Nani were siblings and the youngest victims in the crash.
A third child inside the van survived the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two occupants of the Nissan also died at the scene, though their identities have not yet been released.
