Authorities in Columbus are investigating a deadly early morning shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead.
According to the Columbus Police Department, the incident happened near the intersection of 31st Avenue and Delta Street during the early hours of Monday, June 22, 2026. Officers responded to the scene following reports of gunfire.
The victim has been identified by Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan as 20-year-old Jayveon Bell. He was pronounced deceased at 6:32 a.m. due to a gunshot wound. Officials said Bell’s body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The Columbus Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is actively leading the investigation. At this time, no additional details about possible suspects or a motive have been released.
