According to Lakewood police, officers were dispatched around 4:26 a.m. on June 21 after a report involving a disturbance at a home on Chesterland Avenue. Authorities later confirmed that both victims were found deceased inside the residence from gunshot wounds.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Richard Eastin, 35, and Amanda Leigh Wakut, 33. Investigators stated that the suspected shooter, Stephen Davis, 45, of Fairview Park, fled the scene following the incident and was later involved in a brief police pursuit.
Authorities reported that Davis was found near Warren Road, where he exited his vehicle holding a firearm. After a short standoff with police, he died by suicide at the scene.
Investigators also confirmed that Davis and Wakut had been in a dating relationship for about a year. The relationship between Eastin and the others remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined a clear motive.
As the Lakewood community mourns, an outpouring of sympathy and support has followed from friends, relatives, and neighbors. Loved ones are now left grappling with grief and seeking answers in the aftermath of the tragedy.
