According to Montreal police (SPVM), the incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. near a supermarket in the Côte-des-Neiges district. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area, where a violent exchange unfolded. During the response, Officer Benredouane was fatally shot while attempting to protect the public. He was transported from the scene but later died from his injuries. He had served with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal since 2021.
Authorities confirmed that a second officer was also injured during the incident and received medical treatment. The suspected gunman was shot and killed at the scene. The second victim, Michael Moshe Mizrahi, was also fatally wounded during the shooting. He was identified through community and emergency response sources.
