Elberton Woman Dies in Tragic Lawn Mower Accident

A 67-year-old Elberton woman has died following a tragic lawn mower accident at a residence in northeastern Georgia on Monday afternoon.

The Elbert County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Teresa Ann Haggstrom of Elberton. Authorities said the incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. at a home in the 2900 block of Green Acres Road.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after reports of a lawn mower accident. When they arrived, they found Haggstrom had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials have not released further details on how the accident happened, and the exact circumstances remain unclear. Investigators have not said whether any mechanical failure, terrain issue, or other factor may have contributed.

The Elbert County Coroner’s Office and the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the incident.

Elberton, known as the “Granite Capital of the World,” is located in northeastern Georgia near the South Carolina state line, about 40 miles east of Athens.
