Family members, friends, and members of the Waynesburg community are mourning the tragic loss of Lee D. Meadows, 70, who lost his life in a devastating three-vehicle crash in Carroll County on June 24.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 4:56 p.m. on State Route 43 near milepost 25 in Brown Township. Investigators said a westbound 2016 Volkswagen Golf attempted to pass a 2019 Ram 1500 and crossed into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with an eastbound 2012 Subaru Outback driven by Meadows. The Ram was also struck during the collision.
The force of the crash caused the Subaru to overturn onto its roof in the roadway, while the pickup truck traveled off the north side of the road. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Meadows suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office. Authorities reported that he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
A passenger in the Subaru, 39-year-old Emily N. Meadows of Malvern, was injured and transported to Aultman Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ram, 34-year-old Cole Kneeper of Malvern, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen, 31-year-old Ronald R. Romano III of Malvern, was ejected from his vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
As family members, friends, and members of the Waynesburg community come to terms with this tragic loss, many are reflecting on the impact Lee Meadows had on the lives of those around him. His passing serves as a painful reminder of how quickly life can change and how precious every moment with loved ones truly is.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol believes speed may have been a factor in the crash, while the role of impairment remains under investigation. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
During this time of mourning, heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the Meadows family as they navigate the pain of losing a beloved relative, friend, and community member. Though his life ended far too soon, Lee D. Meadows will be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude by all who knew him. His memory will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
