Pilot Identified Following Fatal Plane Crash in Tattnall County

Authorities have identified the pilot who lost his life in a plane crash Wednesday evening in Tattnall County, Georgia.

According to officials, the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft was Tony Zorn of Lyons, Georgia. His next of kin has been notified.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:59 p.m. when Tattnall County 911 received reports of an airplane down along Highway 144 West in the Tyson Community near Glennville.

Emergency responders from Tattnall County Fire Rescue, Tattnall County EMS, Tattnall County Emergency Management Agency, the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office, and the Glennville Fire Department quickly responded to the scene.

Officials have confirmed that the investigation has now been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which will work to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.

No additional information regarding the cause of the incident has been released at this time. Authorities have described the investigation as active and ongoing, and further details are expected as the FAA and NTSB continue their examination of the crash site.
