According to officials, Tattnall County 911 received a report at approximately 5:59 p.m. Wednesday of an aircraft down along Highway 144 West in the Tyson Community near Glennville. Emergency responders, including Tattnall County Fire Rescue, EMS, EMA, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Glennville Fire Department, responded quickly to the scene. Despite their efforts, the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft did not survive.
Authorities confirmed the pilot as Tony Zorn of Lyons, Georgia. His next of kin has been notified. Officials later stated that the investigation has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), who will work to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
