Authorities have confirmed that an overnight shooting in Jersey on Wednesday night resulted in the deaths of two people, leaving a small community in shock and mourning.
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of persons shot at 4538 Gauntt Road. Upon arrival, investigators discovered a deadly scene involving members of the Mincey family.
Officials said resident Ralph Edward Mincey was taken into custody immediately at the scene. He has since been charged with murder and multiple additional offenses connected to the incident.
One victim, identified as Amanda Mincey McBrayer, was found deceased at the scene. A second victim, Jennifer Lynn Mincey, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries despite medical efforts to save her life.
“The investigation is ongoing,” said Walton County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Major Scott Whisnant. He added, “We are saddened by this senseless loss of life.”
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding a possible motive.
The Mincey family is well known in the close-knit Jersey community, and news of the tragedy has deeply impacted residents across Walton County. Expressions of sympathy and condolences have since poured in across social media as friends, neighbors, and community members grapple with the devastating loss.
Officials say the case remains under active investigation as detectives continue to gather evidence and piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
