Onalea passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at a residence in the 1900 block of Sykes Creek Road. According to authorities, Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO 911 Dispatch) received a call at approximately 12:35 a.m. reporting a domestic disturbance involving a shooting. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded swiftly to the scene, where Onalea was later confirmed deceased.

Her life was one that touched others in quiet but meaningful ways. Onalea was known for her warm presence, her familiar spirit, and the connections she built with those around her. To her loved ones, she was more than a name—she was a source of memory, comfort, and shared moments that will now be held even closer to the heart.

The Jackson County Major Assault Death Investigation Unit (MADIU), along with Oregon State Police, Medford Police Department, Ashland Police Department, and other assisting agencies, continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident. The Oregon State Police Forensic Lab processed the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
