Two women and a toddler were found fatally shot in Jackson, Mississippi, following a reported aggravated assault on Saturday night, according to police.
Authorities said officers were dispatched around 9 p.m. to the 300 block of Queen Alexandria Lane, where they discovered three victims suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Jackson Police Chief Rashall Brackney confirmed that the victims included two women in their 20s and a toddler.
Loved ones identified the two women as Erica Weathersby and Keyana Weathersby. Their names were released as authorities continue to search for answers in the deadly shooting.
Police are also searching for a red 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage with Mississippi license plate HSI 205, which was reported missing from the scene. The vehicle was last seen near Sunset Drive and Medgar Evers Boulevard, and investigators believe it may be connected to the killings.
Officials warned that the individual or individuals associated with the vehicle may be armed and dangerous and urged the public not to approach it.
“This is a heinous crime,” Chief Brackney said, calling the violence “the most vile” and expressing concern over the killing of a toddler along with two adults inside the home.
Detectives have not yet released information about a suspect or possible motive in the case. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1800 as the search for those responsible continues.
