Joshua Burkhart Dies After Head-On Motorcycle Collision in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A 23-year-old McKee man was killed Thursday morning after his motorcycle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a passenger vehicle on Industrial Boulevard, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the victim as Joshua Burkhart. The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Industrial Boulevard, located off West Hal Rogers Parkway.

Investigators said Burkhart was traveling northbound on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when, for reasons still under investigation, he crossed the center line and struck a Chrysler 300 head-on.

Emergency responders and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office were dispatched to the scene, where Burkhart was pronounced dead due to his injuries. The driver of the Chrysler 300 was not injured in the crash.

Officials confirmed that three crash reconstructionists with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office are leading the ongoing investigation to determine what caused the motorcycle to leave its lane.

Industrial Boulevard was temporarily closed following the collision but reopened later Thursday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The tragic crash has left the McKee community mourning the sudden loss of Joshua Burkhart as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
