Michael was discovered on the north shoulder of the North I-94 Service Drive near Independence Lane, just west of the Archwood Apartments, after authorities responded to reports of a man lying in the roadway at approximately 1:54 a.m. on July 5, 2026. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene due to extensive injuries.
Investigators with the Van Buren Township Police Department observed fresh accident debris near the area where Michael was found, and authorities believe the incident may involve a possible hit-and-run crash. The Van Buren Township Accident Investigation Team continues to process evidence and follow up on leads as they work to determine exactly what happened.
