LUBBOCK, Texas — A 27-year-old man has died following a shooting in North Lubbock early Saturday morning, according to Lubbock police.
Authorities identified the victim as Joe Ybarra Jr., 27.
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 12:35 a.m. on July 5 to the 700 block of North Ithaca Avenue after reports of shots fired in the area.
When officers arrived, they located Ybarra Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency crews transported him to University Medical Center (UMC), where he was later pronounced dead.
Following the incident, the case was turned over to the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, which is now leading the investigation.
At this time, authorities say no arrests have been made, and the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
Officials are asking anyone with information to come forward as investigators continue working to determine what led to the deadly shooting.
