With profound sadness, family, friends, and members of the Pulaski County community are mourning the tragic loss of Rhett Luttrell, 4, following a devastating fireworks accident during an Independence Day celebration on Saturday night, July 4.
According to the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. as Rhett was with his family during holiday festivities. Officials said a canister-style firework became tilted after being lit, causing it to fire in the wrong direction instead of safely into the sky. The firework struck Rhett in the torso, resulting in catastrophic injuries.
Emergency responders rushed the child to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead despite all life-saving efforts.
Rhett’s sudden passing has left his family and the entire community heartbroken. A life so young and full of innocence was taken in an instant, leaving behind unimaginable grief and sorrow for those who knew and loved him.

Officials have described the incident as a tragic accident, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have also renewed safety reminders about fireworks use, urging families to exercise extreme caution during holiday celebrations.
Though his time on earth was brief, Rhett Luttrell’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and all who were touched by this devastating story. He will be remembered and honored always as a beloved child taken far too soon.
