With profound sadness, we remember and honor the life of Michael Morse, 64, of Duluth, whose passing has left family, friends, and the community mourning.
Authorities with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Morse’s body was recovered Monday from the bottom of the cliff at Palisade Head, a scenic area near Tettegouche State Park. The recovery operation began after officials received a report at approximately 11:13 a.m.
Sheriff’s Office personnel and Rescue Squad members responded to the area and recovered Morse’s body. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
As the investigation continues, loved ones are left to remember Michael for the life he lived and the memories he created with those around him. His passing serves as a heartbreaking reminder of how precious and fragile life can be.
Michael’s life was more than the circumstances surrounding his death. He was a person with his own story, relationships, and moments that mattered deeply to the people who knew and cared for him. Those who loved him will continue to carry his memory and cherish the time they shared together.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation to the MN DNR Marine Unit, Minnesota State Patrol, Lake County Ambulance Service, and Tettegouche State Park staff for their assistance during the recovery effort.
During this difficult time, thoughts and condolences are with Michael Morse’s family, friends, and all those grieving his loss. May his memory bring comfort, and may he be remembered with respect and compassion.
