Tremayne “T.J.” Nicholson Jr., 16, Dies After Hit-and-Run Crash in Virginia Beach

Tremayne “T.J.” Nicholson Jr., 16, a student at Salem High School, has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

According to Virginia Beach Police, officers responded around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to a reported crash involving a bicyclist on Lynnhaven Parkway near Princess Anne Road. Police said the bicyclist was struck and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Family members confirmed that T.J. later succumbed to his injuries. Loved ones told authorities and local media that he had been leaving work shortly before the crash when he was hit.

Before his death, T.J.’s family shared that he was hospitalized in critical condition with severe injuries. His loved ones described the devastating impact of the crash as they waited for answers and hoped for his recovery.

Police later arrested Josiah Johnson-Owens, 20, of Norfolk, who has been charged with hit-and-run resulting in serious injury. He is being held at the Virginia Beach City Jail without bond as the investigation continues.
