Three people lost their lives in a devastating crash involving a motorcycle and a Tesla early Sunday morning in Prince George’s County, Maryland, according to Maryland State Police.
The victims were identified as Matthew Eric Vowell, 48, and Krystal Ann Vowell, 47, both of Friendship, Maryland, and Adriana Lanae Maxwell, 22, of Glen Burnie, Maryland.
The fatal collision happened at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Route 301 near Governors Park Lane.
According to the preliminary investigation, a black Tesla Model 3 was attempting to make a left turn from Route 301 onto Governors Park Lane when it failed to yield to a southbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle then struck the passenger side of the Tesla.
Matthew Vowell, who was operating the motorcycle, and Krystal Vowell, who was riding as a passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. Adriana Maxwell, who was seated in the rear passenger seat of the Tesla, also suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The Tesla driver was transported to a hospital for treatment. Investigators believe the Tesla may have been operating as a rideshare vehicle at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances that led to the tragic collision.
