With profound sadness, family, friends, and members of the Tremont community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Deborah Wedge, 67, whose life ended following a tragic incident at Beech Hill Pond in Otis, Maine, on Sunday.
Deborah’s unexpected passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. Her life was filled with cherished memories, meaningful relationships, and moments that will forever remain treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
According to authorities, emergency crews were called at approximately 4:21 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman found in the water near Salisbury Cove Road in Otis. Bystanders quickly responded, pulling Deborah from the pond and beginning CPR before first responders arrived.
Members of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Warden Service, and local fire department arrived and continued lifesaving efforts. Despite the dedication and efforts of everyone who tried to help, Deborah Wedge was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities stated there was no indication of foul play and that the incident appeared to have been caused by a medical event while Deborah was in the water.
As loved ones face this heartbreaking loss, they hold tightly to the memories Deborah created and the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Though her life ended far too soon, the love, kindness, and moments she shared will continue to live on through the people who knew and loved her.
