Two Lives Lost in Tragic Savannah Shooting as Authorities Identify Victims

The Savannah community is mourning after a deadly shooting near Frazier Homes claimed the lives of 35-year-old Charles Frazier and 31-year-old Shainairie Jones.

According to Chatham County Coroner David Campbell, Charles Frazier was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot at least one time. Shainairie Jones later died at a local hospital on July 12 after suffering a gunshot wound.

The coroner’s office said autopsies have been scheduled for both victims as officials continue investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

The deadly incident began late Thursday night, July 9, when Savannah Police Department officers responded around 11:50 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1000 block of West Broad Court near Frazier Homes in downtown Savannah.

When officers arrived, they found four adults suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities later confirmed that a second victim had died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

Police said one victim was initially listed in critical condition, while two others suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe the shooting may have been a targeted attack, though the investigation remains ongoing.

No arrests have been announced, and authorities are continuing to gather information about what led to the violence.
