A Sunday evening four-vehicle crash in St. Clair County claimed the life of a Belleville man and left five others injured, according to the Illinois State Police.
The St. Clair County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Dustin Dontigney, 39, of Belleville.
According to Illinois State Police Troop 8, troopers responded at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, to a report of a fatal four-vehicle collision on Illinois Route 13 south of Red Ray Mine Road.
Authorities said one occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. Five other occupants involved in the crash sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Officials have not released the conditions of those injured.
The roadway remained closed for several hours while emergency crews assisted victims and investigators processed the scene. Illinois Route 13 was reopened at approximately 11:41 p.m. Sunday.
The Illinois State Police continue to investigate the cause and circumstances surrounding the collision. No additional details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
